chaos to couture

Every year, the stars are expected to pull out the big guns for the Met Gala. This year was themed around the fusion of punk and couture in New York, however Hollywood glam understandably prevailed on the red carpet. The Met Ball is the pinnacle of the fashion calendar, and always showcases the most fabulous, as well as the most questionable outfits of the year.

And so I present to you, my Met Ball wrap up:

Pick of the night- Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture:
This Givenchy couture masterpiece reigns supreme.
The structured shoulders, zipper detail and overall gothic bride feel of this look could only be pulled off by someone as stunning and fundamentally badass as Rooney.

Black, black, black with plenty of skin:
Although wearing black to a punk themed gala is less than creative, these ladies definitely did it right. Cut outs were perhaps the biggest trend of the night, and in Miranda's case, less will always be more. Dakota Fanning and Emma Watson shook their child star images with sexy sheer panels and dramatic splits, while Anne Hathaway debuted her new blonde locks for the occasion.

Love or Loathe- Anja Rubik
Someone who definitely embraced the punk theme whole heartedly was Anja Rubik. Her darinAnthony Vaccarello number stood out like a sore thumb, featuring bold red leather and a turned up collar. The slicked back hair perfected a look that should have definitely be wrong, but Anja made it oh so right.

Sarah Jessica Parker
SJP got creative and presented us with her take on the mohawke, in the form of a fabulous Bradshaw-esque headdress. This is definitely up there with my favourite looks of the night.

(I had to)

Miss Delevingne
And how could I continue without mentioning Cara Delevigne's studded, plunging, black Burberry gown. Teamed with an ear cuff and rock and rock hair, Cara oozed punk and sophistication simultaneously- a hard act to beat.

And now my favourite part of any major Hollywood event- scrolling through my instagram feed and realising that all celebrities are actually pals.
